Counting to 10 in Spanish

We’ve done it! We can count to ten in Spanish! This week’s Spanish phrase-of-the-week is

uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez
one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten

It may look long, but it’s fun and easy to practice. Next time your Claxton student counts something, challenge her or him to count in Spanish!

Or read a great book that involves counting in Spanish, like Just a Minute by Yuyi Morales, which our wonderful Media Coordinator and Spanish-speaker, Ms. Brown, has read to the kindergarten and first grade classes.

Other fun count-in-Spanish books include Perritos by Sandra Boynton and Cinco Monitos Brincando en la Cama by Eileen Christleow.

And, of course, it’s always fun to sing along!

Playground Phase 1 To Be Completed This Summer

Great news! We have broken ground on the large playground and ordered the brand new equipment to be delivered before school dismisses in June! We have enough funds to complete Phase 1 this summer for the start of the 2016-2017 school year~
There will continue to be grading and preparation of the large playground in the next month to get ready for new equipment installation. After the new equipment and swings are installed, we will then lay the grass sod for the new soccer field and finish Phase 1.  We will continue to fund raise within the community and local business to begin Phase 2 which includes: Natural Play Space, Amphitheater Outdoor Area, Outdoor Shade Classroom, and Hill Slide.
Highlights
  • New Playground Equipment Ordered
  • 6-Bay Swing Set Ordered
  • Soccer Goals Being Selected
  • Soccer Field Will Be Ready for grass sod after equipment installation
  • Tether Balls Will Be Relocated
  • Summer Project Items: Lay the grass sod for soccer field, relocate tether balls, paint the existing basketball court with four square games
  • Ribbon Cutting Planned for 1st Phase: Start of School Year, August 2016
